# Gaia BH3

Gaia BH3 is a stellar-mass [black hole](https://spacecatalog.org/black-holes) in the constellation [Aquila](https://spacecatalog.org/constellation/aquila), 1926 ly from Earth. Its mass is 32.70 M☉. It was discovered in 2024.

The heaviest stellar-mass [black hole](https://spacecatalog.org/black-holes) known in the Milky Way, thirty-three Suns, found by the eleven-year wobble of an ancient halo [star](https://spacecatalog.org/stars) that carries almost no metals — a hint the black hole's progenitor star didn't either.
