
OVERVIEW
] GALAXYSculptor Filament is an intermediate spiral galaxy SABc in the constellation Sculptor, shining at apparent magnitude 11.11 (). It is catalogued as 2MASX J00473313-2517196, C 65 and Silver Coin, among 14 designations in total. It was discovered in 1783.
The brightest galaxy in the Sculptor Group, dusty and bursting with star formation, and one of the easiest galaxies to see from the southern hemisphere.

Sculptor Filament is not a point of light, so the limit above is the wrong one to hold it against: the same brightness spread over 26.8′ of sky is harder than a star of it, and goes first — spread out, it comes to 22.4 . Catalogued sizes are measured to a photographic contour, and the part an eye sees is usually smaller.
