] NEUTRON STAR

PSR J0437-4715 is a in the constellation Pictor, 507.2 from Earth. It was discovered in 1993.

The nearest and brightest millisecond pulsar, close enough that its distance is known by parallax to better than a per cent. It keeps time well enough to be one of the anchors of the pulsar timing arrays now watching for gravitational waves with periods of years.
