Deneb is an in the constellation Cygnus, 1412 from Earth, shining at apparent magnitude 1.25 (). It is catalogued as 50 α Cyg, HD 197345 and HIP 102098, among 5 designations in total. It has been known since antiquity.

One of the most luminous stars known — bright enough to remain a leading star of the summer sky from well over a thousand light-years away.
